My fellow countrymen,

I know. It is an odd word for me; an outsider, a newcomer, a foreigner to use to refer to the citizens who make up the Human Clan and the village Stromness. But I have been speaking to many inhabitants, learning much of the culture here. And through this I have embraced this land and finally can call it my home.

Like any bear to its cave, I wish to protect my home. I have seen and heard many stories of how the fair citizens of this land have suffered and even perished. My heart weeps for those who have experienced such tragedies. But we cannot let the evils of this world cage our spirit and weaken our resolve. It is time, my fellow countrymen, for us to organize and for us to walk together towards the path of not only recovery, but triumph.

Save our City!

I am certain, readers, you would laugh to hear my gasp of shock and dismay to learn that there is no guard force in the legendary Stromness Village. Rather, more that there is no Guard Captain, and the guards have no direction to follow, so they do nothing? It’s difficult to tell. But this isn’t a conviction of them.

I was departing the Royal Oak, which seems to be muddling through despite the sudden departure of its long time owner into a quiet retirement with her family, according to what I was told by a rather tall pale man clad darkly (And yes, I understand this describes 95% of the men in Stromness). During that departure, I and my tea companion were accosted by two peculiar looking individuals. I’ve taken the time to draw them as I remember them. They made an offer to me with regard to some experiment they wished to try. I politely declined. Their attitudes promptly turned for the worse and threats were bandied about.

This is a call to you, Citizens of Stromness. This is your village. Your King, your home. When are you going to step forward to take control of the Guard and bring order to the Jewel of Mystara? When are you going to make sure that business owners, women and children can truly feel safe under your watch?

I implore you, the brave, the stalwart, the just, the strong, to step forward to bring order back to Stromness, apply as the Guard Captain today and save our Village!
