Bound to Please – Volumes of Love A Success

Romantic music, candlelight, heavily curtained privacy and numerous entreaties from Mystaran citizens helped to rate the year of 1355 as one of the most prolific years ever for Magical books. The books were in full courtship mode all week with nervous fluttering and cooing sounds echoing throughout the Shop and some visitors felt uncomfortable venturing into darkened corners. Many came to entreat the books and offer gifts, among them were Krastor De’Guisarme, Thrace, Clover, Lady Helena DiMiro, Coinneach Macoul, and Ginia aka “Jugs” Darkfoam. All entreaties were heard and addressed in the plethora of books which began appearing late on Saturday night and well into the early morning hours on Sunday. Continue reading

It’s Tome to Mate

The month of February is upon us and spring has arrived in Mystara. The Winter Queen has been put to rest and the season of rebirth has begun. This primal drive for propagation is being felt throughout the realm and the Magical Books within Bound to Please are not immune. This drive is permeating the air within the bookstore and affecting everyone within. Customers are being cautioned to not be alarmed if they feel a sense of lightheadedness or the desire to flirt. The effects are generally short term but be cautioned that the longer inside, the more one may be effected. One can only advise that you ‘be prepared.’ Continue reading

Getting to Know Blanche and Tabby

Greetings, Mystara! Franklin Blackfingers here, reporting for the Tribune. When I first met the quiet Blanche Greyling I was initially taken aback by her  rather plain appearance. I admit, I made an ironic mistake- I judged a book by it’s cover. In the process of conducting this interview, I learned that Blanche carefully guards her perceived ‘ordinariness’. I soon discovered that this self-proclaimed ordinary woman was three parts practical, capable, business woman and seven parts warm and caring human being. By the end of the session I decided that Blanche’s mousy brown appearance was more elegant and enduring than any of the gorgeous apparel she herself makes. Continue reading

Bound to Please Creative Writing Contest Winners

Bound to Please Bookshoppe is proud to announce the winner of their creative writing contest, which was held during the “Hexed, Bound & Stitched” event. Our first place winner was none other than our own wandering wizard, the great Elendil Olorin. Elendil not only told a great story, but staged a grand performance as well — using lighting, magic, and nuances of voice and posture as polished as that of a professional stage performer. His story left many worried about having to walk through the forest of an eve. We look forward to hearing future stories and performances from Elendil. Continue reading

Haikus of Mystara

It is a matter of survival; to grapple with the strangeness of Mystara, or descend into madness. In an attempt to ward off insanity, this transplanted and hoardless dragon sought to obtain a book of ancient wisdom from the Bound to Please Book Shoppe. The price was not, to the relief of this penniless sojourner, in coin. The price was to inquire of Mystarans their own advice, but in the stylized form of the haiku, the rhymeless poem of three lines of set numbers of syllables. Continue reading

The Adventures of Crazy Steve

A certain drunken sailor-type recently went missing from Sanctum. It seems a pint-sized pixie went to Sanctum looking for a place to buy chocolates, had a chat with Crazy Steve, and the silly old fool got her to sit on his lap. Hours laters, high on fae-touch and walking on rubbery legs, Steve followed the pixie to her home-away-from-home and is now situated outside the Bound to Please Bookstore. Continue reading
